hepri, comes from Kheper- the ancient Egyptian god of the rising sun, whose face is depicted by a scarab beetle. Ancient Egyptians saw the scarab as a manifestation of Kheper, representing the creation and sustaining of the cosmos. Our Khepri string necklace is made of black gundis, brass casted nuggets and a tribal inspired pendant.
These necklaces are individually crafted. Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process.
Maya-Bazaar works with grass root level artisans who had given up their tradition of charakkam or handknotting to work as migrant labourers in Mumbai, India. Infusing their craft with modern designs and unique ideas, Mayabazaar continues to create individual pieces of jewellery and accessories. At Mayabazaar we encourage employment of women and provide support in health, education, savings, family planning and relationship counselling to our craftspeople.
